Table layout

The table is divided into a long axis (long rail)  and short axis (short rail). For this encyclopedia, the system used to identify specific locations on the table use A through Q on the long rail and 1 through 9 on the short rail. Each axis count starts at the rail and continues in half diamonds to the opposite rail.

The starting point (A1) is at the head of the table, left side. For example, position A1 is located at the left corner pocket behind the head string. Q9 is located at the right corner pocket below the foot string.

There are 45 cue ball starting positions inside the table. There are 28 targets around the edge of the table. The grid pattern is based on half diamond sequences. The half-diamond patterns on each graphic makes it easier to track and learn the patterns
